Restoring Linden's Train Station: A Success Story of Collaboration and Innovation

Nestled in Linden, New Jersey, a project of rejuvenation and creativity has injected new vitality into the city's train station. The glass block windscreens that graced the platform level for years served as both a decorative element and a nod to the station's rich history. As time took its toll, the City of Linden sought out experts in the field to breathe new life into the station.

"We wanted to revamp it and found GBA to be the perfect fit for the job," shared Eddie Fournier, Supervisor of Trades for the City of Linden, reflecting on the choice to collaborate with GBA, a top glass block installer in the country.

Eddie's vision and GBA's expertise seamlessly aligned. The project presented unique challenges, especially in ensuring durability against frequent impacts from city trucks. "Jeff recommended opting for thicker glass blocks... and installing new steel beams," Eddie pointed out, showcasing the proactive approach that mitigated potential risks.

Navigating coordination with NJ Transit and Amtrak added another layer of complexity, demanding meticulous planning and teamwork. "Safety was our top priority," Eddie stressed, highlighting the joint effort that minimized disruptions for commuters and city traffic throughout the project.

Under Jeff's guidance at GBA, the team executed with precision, completing the project within the promised timeline despite minor hurdles. "Despite losing a day to weather and another to a holiday, he still delivered on time," Eddie commended, recognizing GBA's dedication to their word.

The outcomes speak volumes. The revitalized glass block windscreens not only elevate the station's visual appeal but also ensure long-lasting functionality for years to come. "The end result was stunning... exceptional," Eddie remarked, echoing the sentiments of commuters who now experience a safer and more aesthetically pleasing environment.

The project stands as a testament to the power of expertise, collaboration, and a shared pursuit of excellence. Linden's train station is more than just a transportation hub; it is a symbol of community pride and resilience, thanks to the dedication of all involved. As Eddie succinctly stated, "This project was truly a team effort." It is through such collective endeavors that cities like Linden continue to prosper and evolve, one project at a time.
