New Song Community Church was started in October 2000 as part of the Northern Illinois District of the Lutheran Church. The purpose was to reach the Greater Fox Valley Area with the good news of Jesus Christ. Initially, they were meeting in multiple locations, but a permanent ministering center was built in 2011.
The new facility was designed by Jaeger Nickola and Associates. Part of the design called for glass block windows in a variety of colors and sizes to mimic old-world, stained-glass windows at a much more economical price point.
KLC Construction was selected as the general contractor and they retained GBA Architectural Products + Services to make the vision a reality. Glass block with its full color palette and myriad sizing options was determined to be the best product option, but hurdles within the project still existed.
The panels had to be anchored and reinforced to meet glass block specifications. With the different sized block, care had to be given to the layout and block construction while keeping the general color scheme desired.
All hurdles were overcome through the submittal and shop drawing process. GBA executed the installation properly and professionally because of its experienced tradesmen and proper preparation.
